NZX: Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement applies to your use of NZX’s website www.nzx.com (NZX Site).

Non-Personal Information

When you use the NZX Site our server logs the following information, which is provided by your browser:

your server's IP address (a number which is unique to the machine through which you are connected to the Internet) or your personal IP address
the type of browser and operating system you are using
the domain name of the referring site (eg the previous NZX Site that you visited).

It also logs:

the date and time of your visit
the URL address of the pages accessed and the documents downloaded.

This information does not personally identify you. NZX analyses this non-personal information for certain trends and statistics, such as which parts of the NZX Site users are visiting and how long they spend there, among other possible uses.

NZX will not try to identify you or your browsing activities except, in the event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider's logs or if your usage is causing technical issues for the NZX Site which may need to be resolved. NZX may in these circumstances identify your IP address to enable NZX to contact you.

Personal Information

There are times when NZX may need personal information from you, such as your name, postal address or email address, fax and phone numbers. You will be asked to supply that personal information voluntarily. NZX collects personal information from applications or other forms that you submit to NZX, from your transactions with NZX, our affiliates, or others, and from consumer reporting agencies. When NZX collects personal information on the NZX Site, NZX will take reasonable steps to inform you of:

the purpose for which the personal information is collected
where applicable, any law that requires the particular personal information to be collected
the main consequences for you if all, or part, of the personal information requested is not provided.

NZX will only use such personal information for the purpose for which you have provided it, unless you consent otherwise or NZX is required by law to disclose it.

NZX will not sell your personal information to, or share it with, any other company or third party agency, except as permitted by law. NZX discloses such personal information about you only to those employees who have a need to know.

Where NZX receives information about your session or about you, NZX may use that information to conduct market research surveys, for statistical analysis to determine NZX Site usage, to run competitions and for direct marketing purposes relating to our business, to tailor our services to match your needs and improve the NZX Site generally. An 'opt-out' box will appear each time you are asked to provide personal information for additional purposes. Please tick this box if you do not wish your personal information to be used in this way. NZX does not collect sensitive information such as your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or religious beliefs.

NZX will take all reasonable steps to allow you access to your personal information and we will correct personal information if NZX is satisfied that it is incorrect.
