NZX to retain naming rights to indices

8 October 2004 New Zealand Exchange Limited (NZX) today announced that, following a comprehensive review of proposals from a number of interested parties wishing to acquire the naming rights to the NZX Indices, NZX has decided to retain the naming rights.

NZX invited Requests for Proposal (RFP) for the NZX Indices naming rights in late June 2004, then extended the deadline in July in response to requests for more time from several interested parties.

“NZX received multiple proposals, and all of these were given careful consideration,” said Melissa Jenner, NZX Marketing Manager.

“However, NZX decided that none of the proposals met NZX's business objectives at this time for the sale of the naming rights to the indices. Therefore we have decided to retain the NZX name for the indices,” said Jenner.

NZX Indices are the internationally recognised performance benchmarks of the New Zealand securities markets and the companies listed on them.
