Highlights

The NZX 50 ended the month on 4,209, up 11% since October last year and 4% year to date.
There was $1.106 billion of debt and $299 million of equity raised in October.
Total capital raised on NZX Markets year to date reached $4.459 billion in October.
Number of trades on the NZDX market were up 58% in October at 2,991 and value traded was up 66% at $142 million.
Average daily trades up 12% in October to 2,440.
The number of NZX real time Data terminals passed the 10,000 mark for the first time. There are now 10,103 terminals providing NZX Data worldwide.
Smartshares funds under management up 27% since October 2006, at $613 million. Smartshares has 15,433 unitholders.

Trading

Average number of daily trades was 2,440 for October, a 12% increase on the same period in 2006.
Total number of trades was 53,685, a 17% increase on the same period last year.
Total value traded in October was $2.674 billion, a 2% decrease on the same period last year. Average daily value traded of $122 million, a 6% decrease on the same period last year.
Total number of trades for the NZSX was 50,291 for October, a 16% increase on the same period last year. Total value traded on the NZSX was $2.531 billion for October, a 4% decrease on the same period last year.
Total number of trades for the NZAX was 403 for October. Total value traded on the NZAX was $2 million.
Total number of trades for the NZDX was 2,991 for October. Total value traded on the NZDX was $142 million.

Capital Raised

New equity raised in October was $299 million and new debt raised in October was $1.106 billion.
Total capital raised on the NZX Markets year to date is $4.459 billion

Other

Number of NZX Market Data terminals has increased to 10,103.
The total number of instalment warrants trades in October was 955, a 115% increase on the same period last year. Total value traded for instalment warrants for October was $9 million.
Smartshares funds under management (FUM) is $613 million across its five ETFs, a 27% increase on the same period last year. Smartshares has a total of 15,433 unitholders.
