Council considers retail green bond offer

Media release 24 June 2019 Council considers retail green bond offer Auckland Council (Council) is considering an offer of secured, unsubordinated fixed rate green bonds to New Zealand retail investors and to institutional investors. The green bonds are expected to have a maturity date of six years. It is expected that full details of the offer will be released early July. The offer will be made pursuant to the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 as an offer of debt securities of the same class as quoted debt securities. The green bonds are expected to be quoted on the NZX Debt Market. The Council has appointed ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited and Bank of New Zealand as Joint Lead Managers in relation to the green bond offer. Investors can register their interest with the Joint Lead Managers (details below) or a financial adviser. Indications of interest will not involve an obligation or commitment of any kind. No money is currently being sought and no green bonds can be applied for or acquired in relation to an offer until that offer opens and the investor has received a copy of the relevant offer document in relation to the green bonds.
