NZX AND MEDIA RELEASE 31 March 2020 Smiths City to resume online trading As part of the New Zealand Government's response to COVID-19 Smiths City will offer a limited range of its products and services to the public and commercial customers in line with the just released guidelines aimed at giving the public access to essential goods. Smiths City anticipates being able to take orders through its online store from later today. None of its physical stores will be open to the public, but several of its stores and its distribution centers in Christchurch and Auckland may be used to fulfil online orders. Smiths City will also offer sales and support through its call centre. All deliveries will be 'contactless' in line with government guidelines, while employees working to fulfil orders will do so using correct safety protocols to protect them from COVID-19. Chief Executive Roy Campbell said: "We welcome the Government's initiatives to give the public access to goods such as heaters, whiteware and computers and other items that MBIE may see fit to expand to include in the definition of essential goods. These products are essential given the approach of winter and the new realities people face with home working. Smiths City welcomes this opportunity to play a role in supporting the country's businesses and the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders."
