Stay granted in relation to proposed merger

The High Court has today granted a stay on the effect of the pending decision of the New Zealand Commerce Commission (NZCC) on the clearance applications of SKY and Vodafone for the proposed merger of the SKY and Vodafone New Zealand businesses. The stay was granted at a hearing held today in respect of the proceedings filed on Monday 20 February 2017 on behalf of 2degrees, Spark and InternetNZ and is until midnight on the third day after the NZCC has delivered the reasons for its decision. SKY is now considering the implications of the High Court's decision to grant a stay and has requested a trading halt.
