Auckland Airport experienced total passenger growth of 2.8% in April 2018. International passengers (excl. Transits) were down 1.0%, while domestic passengers grew by 8.3% compared to April 2017. The impact was driven by an earlier Easter holiday period starting in late March in 2018 compared to mid-April in 2017, as well as the absence this year of the World Masters Games that was hosted in Auckland in April 2017. Key Points: o Australian visitor arrivals were down 20.0% in April 2018 compared with April 2017. This change was driven by an earlier Easter holiday period, a reduction in Tasman capacity following the withdrawal of Emirates Tasman services from Auckland and the World Masters Games hosted in Auckland in April 2017. o The World Masters Games hosted in Auckland last year also impacted visitor arrival growth from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Canada in April 2018. o Chinese visitor arrivals grew by 19.6% in April 2018.
