AIA Monthly Traffic Update – July 2018

July 2018 Monthly traffic update 1.9% - Auckland Airport experienced total passenger growth of 1.9% in July 2018. International passengers (excl. Transits) were up 2.5%, while domestic passengers grew by 1.8% compared to July 2017. International passenger growth (excl. Transit) was predominantly driven by additional capacity on the Asia and Pacific Island routes (+40,000 and +17,000 seats respectively). Domestic growth was also driven by capacity additions, mainly on the Auckland to Dunedin and Queenstown routes (+8,000 and +6,000 seats respectively). Key Points: o Strong growth in Auckland Airport's origin traffic base with New Zealand arrivals (+10.3%) and departures (+6.4%) up on July 2017, predominantly driven by the additional capacity on Asia and Pacific Island routes. o Additional capacity on Asia routes also supported strong growth in arrivals from India (+16.8%), Malaysia (+23.4%) and Thailand (+25.9%), while arrivals from the United Kingdom (-24.2%) were impacted by the absence of the British & Irish Lions rugby tour in 2018.
