Jon Macdonald to join Contact Board

4 October 2018 Jon Macdonald to join Contact Board Today Contact Energy Limited (Contact) announced that Jon Macdonald has been appointed as a director to join its Board on 1 November 2018. "I am delighted Jon has agreed to join the Board. Jon is a highly experienced executive with a proven track record of growing a successful digital business. The appointment of Jon represents the completion of the board succession process that we signalled earlier this year" said Contact Chairman Rob McDonald. Jon has spent the last 15 years at Trade Me Group, and has been the CEO there for the last decade. Trade Me operates online classifieds and marketplaces in New Zealand, and is publicly listed on New Zealand's and Australia's stock exchanges. Under Jon's stewardship over the last 10 years, Trade Me has grown from revenues of $80m to $250m and a market capitalisation of approximately $2B. Trade Me is recognised as one of New Zealand's most trusted brands. In June 2018, Jon announced an intention to step away from the business at the end of the year. Prior to joining Trade Me, Jon worked in London for HSBC Investment Bank in a variety of technical and management positions, and has worked for Deloitte Consulting with a focus on telecommunications and financial services. Jon is also director of NZX, and also serves on the Remuneration, Conflicts and Regulatory Governance Committees. Jon has a background in engineering and technology. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Canterbury, and is a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors. Jon will fill a casual vacancy from 1 November 2018 until the 2018 annual shareholder meeting, then will stand for election by shareholders at that meeting.
