AIA Monthly Traffic Update – March 2019

March 2019 Monthly traffic update 0.0% Auckland Airport total passenger numbers in March 2019 were almost the same as last year. International passengers (excl. Transits) were down 0.7%, while domestic passengers grew by 1.1% compared to March 2018. International passenger growth (excl. Transits) was impacted by the shift in timing of Chinese New Year to early February in 2019, as well as the Easter and school holiday period from late March in 2018 to mid-April 2019. This resulted in Australian and Chinese visitor arrivals for March being down by 11.6% and 9.0% respectively vs prior year. Domestic passenger growth was predominantly driven by additional capacity, particularly on the Auckland-Queenstown route (+8,000 seats).
