AIA Monthly Traffic Update – June 2019

June 2019 Monthly traffic update 2.2% Auckland Airport experienced total passenger growth of 2.2% in June 2019. International passengers (excl. Transits) were up 1.9%, while domestic passengers grew by 3.4% compared to June 2018. 21.1m Total passenger numbers grew by 2.8% to 21.1 million in the year to 30 June 2019, surpassing the 21 million passenger milestone for the first time in a financial year. The 0.6 million increase was driven by a 3.0% rise in international passengers (excl. Transits) and a 3.6% rise in domestic passengers, partially offset by a 4.9% reduction in transit passengers. Key Points: o Continued growth in Auckland Airport's origin traffic base with New Zealander arrivals up 5.7% in the year to 30 June 2019. o United States visitor arrivals were up 7.1% in the year to 30 June 2019, primarily driven by new capacity on the Auckland to Chicago route from Air New Zealand and United Airlines operating year-round on the Auckland to San Francisco route.
