Promisia Integrative Ltd (NZX:PIL) advises that it has entered into a recall action agreement with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to undertake a retail recall of Arthrem joint support capsules. Arthrem was supplied to one national pharmacy group and several smaller pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies in New South Wales. All pharmacies supplied with Arthrem since its launch in Australia in early 2018 will be contacted in the next 48 hours and asked to return any stock to the wholesale supplier. The company has advised in earlier announcements to NZX that it has withdrawn Arthrem from wholesale distribution in Australia. There is a limited number of Arthrem bottles at the retail level in Australia. The company has also requested voluntary cancellation of the Arthrem entry in the Australasian Register of Therapeutic Goods which removes the requirement for registration of Arthrem as a listed complimentary medicine. The TGA has requested this action in view of the reported adverse reactions in New Zealand. Both the TGA and the company note that there have not been any adverse reactions to Arthrem in Australia. The action is precautionary and based on adverse reactions reported in New Zealand, many of which the company disputes were as a result of taking Arthrem.
