10/11/20, 7:31 pm, ADMIN

11 November 2020 Contact director standing down in March Independent director Whaimutu Dewes has advised that he will retire from the Contact Energy Board effective March 2021. Contact chair Rob McDonald said that earlier in the year Whai indicated that 2020 would likely be his last full year as a director subject to Contact finding a suitable replacement. The Board is well advanced in the search for a new director and hoping to make an announcement in the not-too-distant future once this process is concluded. Mr McDonald paid tribute to Mr Dewes, who has been a director since February 2010. "Whai has made an enormous contribution to the governance of Contact since joining the Board. He has provided guidance and stability as we have seen changes in leadership at both the CEO and Chair level, and during the sell-down of Origin's majority stake in Contact. "Whai has also been a significant contributor to the Board, most recently as Chair of the health, safety and environment committee, and he has been instrumental in guiding the Board through a cultural shift across HSE and our stakeholder relations. He has consistently challenged the management team to do better for shareholders, customers and all stakeholders." Mr McDonald said that although Mr Dewes was stepping away from his governance duties in March, he was staying involved with Contact and would be supporting the company in its relationships with iwi stakeholders for an initial period of two years. -ends- Investor enquiries Matthew Forbes +64 21 072 8578 Media enquiries Paul Ford +64 21 809 589 End CA:00363010 For:CEN Type:ADMIN Time:2020-11-11 08:31:15
