Tsunami warning – Marsden Point Oil Refinery

Refining NZ advises that the Marsden Point oil refinery site has been safely evacuated in accordance with its Emergency Response Plan in response to the Tsunami Warning issued by the National Emergency Management Agency following the magnitude 8.1 earthquake near the Kermadec Islands. Oil refining operations at the refinery were already in shutdown mode due to the scheduled March 2021 turnaround maintenance programme.
