June 2021 Monthly traffic update and July 2021 preview 196.9%. Auckland Airport total passenger volumes increased by 196.9% in June 2021 versus last year. International passengers (excl. transits) were up 468.3%, transit passengers were down 71.3% and domestic passengers were up by 171.2%. Key Points: o The increase in total international passengers for June 2021 reflects trans-Tasman quarantine-free travel operating during the month. Trans-Tasman quarantine-free travel from Victoria remained paused until 22 June 2021, and as a result of further community outbreaks in Australia, from all states beginning 27 June 2021. o Domestic services for June 2021 were also up on the prior year reflecting increased domestic activity and international passengers transferring to domestic flights. o Please refer to Appendix 1 for comparison with June 2019 for reference. July 2021 Monthly traffic update preview 59.7%. Auckland Airport total passenger volumes increased by 59.7% in July 2021 versus last year. International passengers (excl. transits) were up 332.4%, transit passengers were down 84.8% and domestic passengers were up by 46.3%. Key Points: o The increase in total international passengers for July 2021 reflects the ongoing operation of trans-Tasman quarantine-free travel. Trans-Tasman quarantine-free travel was temporarily paused with a number of states throughout July 2021, with a suspension of 8 weeks announced on 23 July 2021. o Domestic services for July 2021 were also up on the prior year reflecting increased domestic activity due to school holidays and international passengers transferring to domestic flights. o Please refer to Appendix 2 for comparison with July 2018 for reference.
