Appointment of Simon Mackenzie as non-executive Director
The Genesis Energy Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Mackenzie as an independent non-executive director of the Company. Simon has broad experience across the energy sector. He served as Vector’s Group Chief Executive from 2008 to 2025, currently serves as a director of Bluecurrent and has previously held director roles for NZ Windfarms and the Gas Industry Company. Prior to joining Vector, Simon gained experience in both energy retailing and generation through roles with Mercury and ECNZ. During his tenure as Vector Group Chief Executive, Simon transformed the company from a traditional energy infrastructure operator into a more diversified, technology-driven business. He has championed innovation across the energy sector, forging partnerships with Amazon Web Services and Google X, supporting early trials of solar and battery technologies, and overseeing major investment in Auckland’s electricity and gas networks to accommodate growth, electrification and climate-related resilience. Simon’s appointment is effective from 12 August 2026, and in accordance with Genesis Energy's constitution and the NZX Listing Rules, he will retire at the Company's Annual Shareholder Meeting to be held on 20 October 2026 and will put himself forward for election by shareholders at the meeting. The Board has determined that Simon Mackenzie is an independent director.
