Laura Valiant appointed General Counsel & Company Secretary

Laura Valiant has been appointed ANZ Bank New Zealand (ANZ NZ) General Counsel and Company Secretary, subject to a Reserve Bank of New Zealand non-objection. Ms Valiant is currently the General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer for Southern Cross Health Society. Prior to her current role, Ms Valiant held General Counsel/Head of Legal and Risk and Compliance roles at Westpac, ASB, FlexiGroup and GE Capital. Ms Valiant will commence at ANZ NZ in November 2026. ANZ NZ Associate General Counsel Kirstin Francois will continue to be ANZ NZ’s Acting General Counsel and Company Secretary until Ms Valiant starts.
